Service of Food


Service of Alcohol

If alcohol is present, it is mandatory to schedule MCG Public Safety Officers to be on duty. All requests for activities/programs, when alcoholic beverages are to be served, must be received by Public Safety at least 5 working days in advance.

In addition, it is the responsibility of the sponsoring person(s)/organization(s) to insure the Alcoholic Beverage Guidelines are followed.

Alcoholic Beverages Guidelines

The Medical College of Georgia permits alcoholic beverages at approved activities and programs in the Student Center if the guidelines listed below are followed by the sponsoring person(s)/organization(s):

ID CHECK & DOOR POLICY

1. MCG personnel must show Public Safety their personal MCG ID or library card and a document
indicating proof of age, such as a driver’s license.

2. Each MCG person is permitted one guest. Each guest mush also show proof of age.

3. MCG personnel must register their guest with Public Safety. No underage guests are allowed.

4. No student under the legal age is permitted to drink alcoholic beverages. Underage students are,
however, allowed in TGIF's but are not to be given access to alcoholic and must register with Public Safety. All students of legal age must be issued some type of age identification (wrist band, hand stamp, etc.) by Public Safety at the door and will be expected to display it before getting an alcoholic drink.

5. Beverages and/or beverage containers from outside are not permitted.

6. Cups and/or cans are not permitted outside the event and must be discarded before leaving.

7. The sale of alcoholic beverages is illegal and expressly prohibited. (Also, the collection of funds at the door is prohibited.

8. All events are free at the door.

ALCOHOL EDUCATION PROGRAM

1. It is important that Public Safety officers assist in the alcohol education program by insuring that the ID and breathalizer signs are placed in strategic locations.

2. The breathalizer test must be made available by Public Safety at every event.

3. The serving of alcoholic beverages will be terminated one-half prior to the end of the event (but no later than 11:30 p.m.). All events must conclude by 12:00 a.m.

4. Food and free non-alcoholic beverages must be made available at each event.

5. Public advertising of any event must be not include the mention of alcoholic beverages.

6. Public Safety officers can be contacted to arrange for transportation by those who have had too much to drink and drive.

Fund Raising / Charging Entry Fees

For fund raising events, a profit and expense statement must be submitted to the Comptroller of the
Medical College of Georgia within one week after the event. The statement must include the purpose / organization for which the funds are being raised.
