Web Content relies heavily on web publishers across campus to maintain departmental content. We offer several training options in order to assist publishers in knowing how to maintain their pages using Adobe Contribute and the MCG page system.
Training includes orientation on campus standards and industry best practices, the role of departmental publishers and the Strategic Communications team and how and when to get assistance.
These training sessions are designed to train MCG web publishers in the basics of effective web publishing using Adobe Contribute. For your convenience the session is broken up into two levels in order to accomodate the varying degrees of skill among users. Users can feel free to join us for the first or second half of the session or join us for the session in its entirety.
Learn about web publishing standards at MCG and basic use of Contribute software.
Wednesday, October 7, 10am - 12pm
Wednesday, November 11, 10am - 12pm
The first hour will be dedicated to the discussion of overall goals for using the web as a communication medium here at MCG. Users will learn how to edit web pages, create links, upload documents, edit images and perform basic trouble-shooting on Contribute.
The second hour will focus on slightly more advanced topics. We’ll also touch on effective information architecture (i.e. planning pages with a purpose!) as well as provide a variety of tools and resources to help you maintain your website in the future.
Training dates and pre-registration for sessions are available via the Human Resources Electronic Course Book. Space is limited.
Web Content also offers live online training using WIMBA collaborative learning software, allowing publishers to complete the training process from their own computers. Currently these sessions are by appointment only. Scheduled group training dates are coming soon.
Although we do encourage publishers to attend the pre-scheduled training sessions and take advantage of our online tutorials, we understand that sometimes you need more. Please feel free to contact Web Content to set up one-on-one training sessions or refresher sessions.
