Thank you for your interest in maintaining campus Web Content. You do not have to be a Web expert to maintain a website; however, we do request that you review and follow the Web Publishing Standards that we have provided for you on our site.
In order to establish a new publisher's account, users must complete the following steps:
1. If you do not already have Contribute, it can by purchased through MSD by faxing an IDR to Emily Scarborough (#: 1-7296) in ITSS. The cost for licensing is $59 per user. (Click here for IDR.)
2. Submit Online Connection Request.
3. Workstation support will install Contribute and test new connection to web server.
4. Once Contribute is installed on your workstation, contact Web Content for training or assistance in editing and publishing your web pages.
Contribute is a practical Web publishing tool that facilitates the maintenance of Web sites and does not require expertise in HTML. Updating a Web site is as easy as browsing to a Web page, editing and publishing it.
Become a Contribute Web Author: Each department or division must assign one or more Web Authors to ensure that the site is kept up to date. To become a Contribute Web Publisher, please fill out the Contribute request form. You must have a Net ID to become a Web Publisher. More >
Install Contribute: You will be provided information about how to obtain your official copy of Contribute. You can download a 30-day free trial copy any time. More >
Use a Connection Key: You will also be provided with a Connection Key for the site you requested access to. Don't attempt to connect directly without the key. More >
Edit a Page: Browse to the desired page, click "Edit Page" and you're ready to make changes. More >
Publish the Page: When your edits are completed, click the "Publish" button and it's live! You can also "Save for Later" or "Send for Review" without making the page live. More >
Lots of Options: In addition to editing text with Contribute, you can insert body links to pages and documents, update left navigation links, add and edit images, add and edit tables, and create new pages.
Get Training: Webcontent provides online training for Contribute, including self-paced multimedia tutorials, and in-person training. We can even give you access to a student practice area where you can safely learn Contribute.
Free built-in Training: Take advantage of Contribute's built-in tutorial. While in Contribute, click "Help" in the menu bar then "Contribute Tutorial", or click "Get Started" in the bottom section of the left-hand panel labeled "How Do I...".
