Some National Brags from 2004

U.S. News and World Report ranked MCG’s nursing anesthesia program 18th in the nation out of approximately 90 programs.

U.S. News and World Report ranked MCG Medical Center among “America’s Best Hospitals” in 2004. Treatment of hormonal disorders was ranked 48th out of the top 50 hospitals.

The School of Medicine moved from 83rd to 76th place in National Institutes of Health funding to U.S. medical schools.

MCG opened phase two of its Interdisciplinary Research Building to house areas including genomic medicine, physiology and technology transfer.

MCG broke ground on a $54 million Cancer Research Center, a project partially funded by private enterprise to offset taxpayer expense.

The University HealthSystem Consortium named MCG Health System one of the top-three performers nationally in a research initiative on the effectiveness of ambulatory clinic operations and physician productivity.

The MCG Institutional Research Information System won the first-place University System of Georgia Best Practices Award honoring efficient and effective operational programs.

MCG Health System’s cancer program earned a perfect score from the Commission on Cancer of the American College of Surgeons, placing it among the best in the nation.
