Rewarding Excellent Faculty and Staff

MCG faculty play many roles in the Medical College of Georgia's
success. They help the university recruit eminent scholars. Endowed
professorships also enable the university to reward faculty who have
distinguished themselves in their disciplines.

Student Support: Scholarships

The university’s goal is to meet students’ need for financial aid
without relying heavily on loans. Although in-state students pay less than
the cost of their educations, on average they graduate with substantial
student loan debt. The debt incurred by out-of-state students is even
greater. For students from low- and moderate-income families, such a heavy
debt burden can discourage further study. Self-help
programs, such as work-study, allow students to earn funds to help meet
their expenses. Although this experience can be rewarding, students working
more than 10 hours a week to pay for college have less time to devote to
their academic commitments and often can’t take full advantage of the
student-life activities and leadership-development opportunities available
at MCG. Scholarships are critical to enable students to benefit from the
university experience.
