The Milton Antony Guild has been created to
honor the founder of the Medical College of Georgia and to ensure the
university’s continued success through the support of alumni and
friends. The Guild will recognize and honor donors who have generously
provided or promised gifts to MCG through bequests, trusts and other
life income gifts.
From the moment of its inception, Dr.
Antony and other community leaders recognized the importance
of philanthropy to MCG’s success as each of the original trustees was
“earnestly solicited for money, books, or other property” that could be
used by the school.
The Medical College of Georgia plans to identify 50 “Founding Members”
of the Milton Antony Guild to honor each year of Dr. Antony’s life. Each
donor will promise a gift of $250,000 or more through a will, trust
and/or a non-binding declaration of intent. This will allow the Milton
Antony Guild to begin its philanthropic life with a base of $12.5
million or more in anticipatory testamentary gifts.
The 50 founding members will be honored and memorialized with a large
bronze/brass inscription plaque that will be permanently placed in a
most appropriate place such as MCG’s Memorial Gardens. Other forms of
recognition are under way and will be announced when the plan is
finalized.
In the future, the membership of the Milton Antony Guild will be
expanded to anyone who notifies MCG of his or her intent to provide for
the Medical College of Georgia through a will, trust or life income
gift.
Becoming a founding member of the Milton Antony Guild is a powerful and
generous pledge to the future of the Medical College of Georgia. The
university greatly appreciates this investment in Georgia’s health
sciences university.
