Distinguished Alumni Awards

The Phoebe Kandel Rohrer Founder's Award and the E. Louise Grant Award are presented in recognition of exemplary dedication to the profession of Nursing to individuals who have distinguished themselves in Nursing through their works. Eligible nominees are Medical College of Georgia School of Nursing alumni, honorary alumni or associate members of the alumni association who have exhibited the following:

1. Have made outstanding contributions to nursing.
2. Promotes change in the health care system for the improvement of quality care.
3. Supports and participates in professional and community activities locally, nationally, or internationally.
4. Demonstrates high professional standards and commitment.
5. Provides consultation to colleagues in area of expertise.
6. Contributes to professional publications.
7. Utilizes current research in practice.

Nomination Procedure

1. An Alumni Association member or School of Nursing faculty or administration member nominates a person he/she considers to meet eligibility requirements and selection criteria.
2. The nominating person(s) must submit the following for review:
   • Cover letter introducing the nominee and explaining how the nominee has met the above criteria.
   • The nomination form.

Selection of Recipient
The Board of Directors of the SNAA will review all properly completed nominations and base their decision upon such content. In the event that persons nominated are not deemed to meet the selection criteria, the Board of Directors reserves the right to not bestow either of the awards in any given year.
