The Alumni Association of the School of Medicine presented its Distinguished Award for Loyalty to Dr. Irving Victor, its Distinguished Award for Professional Achievement to Dr. Norman B. Pursley and a Posthumous Distinguished Alumnus Award in honor of Dr. James “Eddie” Marlow.

Dr. Irving Victor
Dr. Victor, assistant to the president at St. Joseph’s/Candler
Health System in Savannah, Ga., earned his medical degree from MCG in
1945 and practiced urology in Savannah from 1951-92. He received
the Medical Association of Georgia’s 2001 Raines Award for
Humanitarian Service and the Georgia Medical Society’s 2001 Lifetime
Achievement Award. Dr. Victor is a fellow of the American College of
Georgians and a past president of the Georgia Urological Association
and Georgia Medical Society. He is an honorary member of the MCG Rinker Society.

Dr. Norman B. Pursley
Dr. Pursley, who earned a medical degree from MCG in 1948, was the
superintendent of Gracewood State School and Hospital from 1951 until
his retirement in 1985. He is a fellow of the American Association on
Mental Deficiency and president of the Georgia Public Health
Association.

Dr. James “Eddie” Marlow
Dr. Marlow, a 1962 graduate of the School of Medicine, practiced
family medicine in Dalton, Ga., and served as a regional alumni
chairman for the Dalton region for many years.
