Distinguished Alumnus Award

The School of Graduate Studies Alumni Association Distinguished Alumnus Award is presented annually in recognition of eminent alumni who have made significant advances in the biomedical sciences and/or health care. Eligible nominees are graduates of Medical College of Georgia School of Graduate Studies, or any department or school which preceded the formation of the School of Graduate Studies, who have exhibited the following:

  1. Has made outstanding contributions to his/her discipline.
  2. Promotes advancement and support of the biomedical sciences and/or health professions in research/practice toward the improvement of quality health care.
  3. Supports and participates in professional and community activities locally, nationally, or internationally.
  4. Demonstrates high professional standards and dedication.
  5. Provides consultation to colleagues in area of expertise.
  6. Contributes to professional publications.
  7. Utilizes current research/equipment in practice.
  8. Exhibits outstanding dedication to the advancement of the MCG School of Graduate Studies and furthering the education of its current students.

A graduate or faculty member (current or retired) of the School of Graduate Studies nominates an alumnus he/she considers to meet eligibility requirements. The nominating person must submit for review a letter introducing the nominee with supporting evidence that the nominee meets at least 5 of the 8 criteria.
