Dr. Robinette J. Amaker, COL, SP, Ph.D., OTR/L, CHT, FAOTA

Dr. Robinette AmakerDr. Amaker, an occupational therapist, is a 1984 graduate of the School of Allied Health Sciences Department of Occupational Therapy and a 1991 graduate of the school’s Master of Health Education Program.

 After graduating from MCG, she received her doctoral degree in occupational therapy from Nova Southeastern University. Dr. Amaker is the former chief and research director at Womack Army Medical Center at Fort Bragg, N.C., and the current director of occupational therapy education at the Army Medical Department Center and School in Fort Sam Houston, Texas. She is leading an initiative to provide clinical doctoral education for military personnel so they can address the health care needs of service men and women. Her research focuses on improved methods to address injuries and improve health outcomes for wounded soldiers and to measure their satisfaction and perception of therapy outcomes.

A certified hand therapist, Dr. Amaker is nationally recognized by the World Federation of Occupational Therapy, the American Society of Hand Therapists and as a fellow of the American Occupational Therapy Association. A colonel in the U.S. Army, Dr. Amaker has six Army Achievement Medals, an Army Commendation Medal and a National Defense Service Medal.
