Distinguished Alumnus Award

The School of Allied Health Sciences Alumni Association Distinguished Alumnus Award is presented annually in recognition of exemplary dedication to the promotion and advancement of the allied health professions, the educational and health affairs policies of Georgia and the nation, and the Medical College of Georgia School of Allied Health Sciences. Eligible nominees are graduates of Medical College of Georgia School of Allied Health Sciences, or any department or school which preceded the formation of the School of Allied Health Sciences, who have exhibited the following:

1. Has made outstanding contributions to his/her allied health discipline.
2. Promotes change in the health care system for the improvement of quality care.
3. Supports and participates in professional and community activities locally, nationally, or internationally.
4. Demonstrates high professional standards and dedication.
5. Provides consultation to colleagues in area of expertise.
6. Contributes to professional publications.
7. Utilizes current research/equipment in practice.
8. Exhibits outstanding dedication to the advancement of the MCG School of Allied Health Sciences and furthering the education of its current students.

Nomination Procedure
An Alumni Association member or School of Allied Health Sciences faculty member nominates an alumnus he/she considers to meet eligibility requirements. The nominating person must submit the following for review:

1. Cover letter introducing the nominee and explaining the ways the nominee has met the above criteria.
2. The nomination form.

The Board of Directors of the SAHSAA will review all properly completed nominations and select a winner whose professional career most strongly exemplifies the criteria listed above.
