Vendor Diversity Initiative

The Vendor Diversity Initiative is a vehicle through which MCG will achieve its goal of increasing the level of participation of minorities in procurement opportunities.

The overall mission of this initiative is to create and implement initiatives that will increase procurement opportunities at the Medical College of Georgia (MCG) for small and minorities business. It is the goal of MCG that all businesses including small and minority owned, have the maximum feasible opportunity to participate in all procurement. The operational objectives are to:

Organize and maintain outreach programs to small and minority business that will facilitate access to MCG.

Work with MCG’s departments to inform them about opportunities to do business with small and minority firms.

Develop and coordinate procurement activities with MCG departments, which have purchasing responsibilities.

To apprise small and minority businesses of the requirements for doing business with MCG, and assist them in successful business transactions with MCG.

To promote small and minority business programs internally and externally.

Compile, analyze and report statistical data to evaluate the effectiveness of the Vendor Diversity Initiatives.

Coordinate vendor fairs.

Definition of a Minority

The State of Georgia defines a minority as:

• African American
• Asian American
• Hispanic
• Native American
• Pacific Islanders

Note: Women owned businesses are not considered a minority in Georgia

Construction contractors, architectural and engineering; office supplies, furniture; custodial equipment and supplies; personnel services; printing/graphics; computer hardware/software; telecommunications equipment; plumbing and electrical supplies/ service; photographic equipment/supplies; audio visual; environmental supplies /service.
