Master’s Physician Assistant Program

Courses to take the first three years:

 

A bachelor's degree is not required to be accepted into the program.

 

Students must complete a total of 90 semester hours of prerequisites.

 

Required Courses

 

 

General Core Courses:

  • English Composition I (3 hours)
  • English Composition II-Literature based (3 hours)
  • General Psychology - (3 hours)

Math/Science Courses:

  • Biology I and II with labs (8 hours)
  • General Chemistry I and II with labs (8 hours)
  • Organic Chemistry I with lab (4 hours)
  • Human Anatomy and Physiology with lab (4 hours)
  • Microbiology with lab (4 hours)
  • College Algebra, Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus, Calculus, or other college-level math - (3-4 hours)
  • Statistics (3 hours)

Additional Required Courses:

Recommended Guided Electives for the Major (15 semester hours)

Guided electives in any basic science which may include: Comparative Vertebrae Anatomy, Organic II, Histology, Biochemistry, Evolution, Human Growth and Development, Abnormal Psychology, Cell and Molecular Biology, Genetics, Embryology or Physics.

Humanities Courses:  Literature, Philosophy, Fine  and Applied Arts, Foreign Language, Speech , Oral Communications, Logic

Social Science Courses: Additional Psychology; Developmental Psychology; Anthropology; Group Process; Social Problems; Cultural Diversity; Sociology; Counseling;  American History

Professional Skills: Health and Wellness, Economics, Ethics, Critical Writing and Critical thinking, Medical Terminology,  Speech or Communications

Basic Computer Course: Computer proficiency in word processing, search engines and presentation software
