Services
Cable TV Service
Basic cable television service is provided (and paid for by students
housing rents) in Residences 4, 5, 6 and the Alumni Center.
Comcast has upgraded their facilities in order to expand service
offerings to students beyond basic cable to include paid channels.
It is the responsibility of each resident student to choose or not
choose to purchase the service.
High-speed internet service is also available.
This, too, is purchased separately from Comcast. A Comcast
representative may be contacted at (706) 832-6904.
Please know that a transaction with Comcast for
any service(s) other than basic cable television is strictly an
agreement between the student and Comcast. MCG is not responsible
for any aspect of the transaction.
Escort Service
Students are urged to take advantage of the public safety escort
service available in all residence hall areas on a 24-hour basis.
Students may call 706-721-2911 for further information.
Housekeeping
Housekeeping services are provided in all residence hall community
areas. All students are expected to contribute to the cleanliness
and general upkeep of their residence hall. It is solely the
responsibility of residents to provide for the cleaning of their own
rooms.
Kitchens
Community kitchen areas are provided in Residence 4 and the Alumni
Center. Kitchens contain a microwave oven, stove, and ice machine.
Laundry Areas
Coin operated washers and dryers are provided in all residence hall
areas for the convenience of the students. Students are asked to
call auxiliary services to report machines that are "out of order."
Refunds for lost money may be obtained by calling auxiliary services
at 706-721-4101.
Mail Services
For students living in Residences 5 and 6,
mailboxes for each individual apartment are provided to students.
Mailbox keys are issued to students at check-in. The mail service
is provided through the United States Postal Service, Augusta,
Georgia. Students that lose a mailbox key will be charged a $25.00
key replacement charge by the United States Postal Service. Mail to
students living in Residence 5 should be addressed to each student
as follows:

service delivery to the U.S. Postal Service Office (for the 30901
zip code area) by calling 706-823-3113.
Maintenance
Maintenance services are provided to housing by the Facilities
Management Division. Students may report maintenance problems
directly to the Office of Residence Life by calling 706-721-3471, Monday
through Friday from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. After 5:00 p.m., on
weekends and on holidays, students may contact emergency maintenance
at 706-721-2434. Students are urged to report maintenance problems
promptly to avoid unnecessary inconvenience.
Students are urged not to attempt repairs.
This includes using drain cleaner to unclog a drain. This may cause
further damage, or create a hazardous condition for the facilities
management staff who are trained and equipped to make all repairs.
Additional charges that are required as a result of a student
attempt to make a repair will be billed to the student.
Off-Campus Housing
As a service to students, the Office of Residence Life provides
current off-campus listings of prices, locations and availability of
commercial apartment complexes and privately owned apartments in the
Augusta area. For more information, drop by Residence
Life, Student Center, second floor, or call 706-721-3471.
Parking
The Parking Services Bureau provides a variety of services to assist
motorists. If you need a jumpstart, have a flat tire, out of gas or
need water for your vehicle contact the Parking Office for
assistance. The Motorist Assistance Program (MAP) is provided from
8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, with MCG Police
Bureau providing the service after 4:00 p.m. on weekends and
holidays.
Pest Control
All residence hall areas are treated on a 60-day cycle by
environmental services. Anytime a student reports a pest problem
(roaches, spiders, bugs, etc.) a prompt response will be given.
Students may report problems to Residence Life at
706-721-3471.
Vending
Vending machines dispensing ice and soft drinks are available in the
Alumni Center. To report loss of money in a vending machine,
students should contact auxiliary services at 706-721-4101. Vending
machines that are "out of order" should be reported to auxiliary
services at 706-721-4101. When reporting a problem with vending
machines, please indicate the residence hall location and the
vending machine number.
Telephone Service
Telephone lines are provided in Residence 4 and the Alumni Center.
The telephone service is restricted to local calls. Long distance
calls may be made by using a calling card by the company of the
student’s choice. MCG assumes no responsibility for the
installation of long distance service. Students must furnish and be
responsible for the maintenance of their own telephone instrument.
MCG will be responsible for the maintenance of the telephone line
only. Students may contact the MCG telephone repair service at
706-721-1626 for further information. Students living in Residences 5
and 6 must contract their telephone service through BellSouth by
calling 888-757-6500.
Call Waiting Instructions
Telephone lines in Residence 4 and the Alumni Center have a call
waiting feature. In order to access this feature, follow the
instructions below.
To terminate a call and answer
- Hang up

- Lift the hand set
- Identify yourself
To hold original call and answer second call
- Upon hearing the CALL WAITING TONE
- Depress the SWITCH HOOK
- Listen for SPECIAL DIAL TONE

Recreational Facilities
The Medical College of Georgia is committed to making fitness
convenient, fun and affordable for every member of the MCG
community. Attached to the Student Center is the new 42,000 square
foot Wellness Center with over 100 pieces of cardiovascular exercise
equipment, free weight systems and strength training machines, two
basketball courts, group exercise and a 1/11th mile running track.
Hours of operation are Monday-Friday 5:30 a.m.
to 10:00 p.m., Saturdays 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Sundays 1:00
p.m. to 9:00 p.m. MCG Public Safety officers monitor the front
desk, ensuring the utmost security, no matter what time of the day
you work out.
The Wellness Center adjoins the MCG Student
Center, which offers food services, meeting rooms, student computer
lab and the campus bookstore.
