RACE stands for Research Administration Certification and Education Program. This is a comprehensive
certificate training program developed by MCG’s Division of Sponsored Program Administration. Race is
designed to meet the research needs of MCG by offering an improved understanding of regulations,
policies and procedures. RACE also provides staff access to important resources and contacts for further
assistance. The program was designed using the collaborative resources of the Division of Sponsored
Program Administration Pre-Award and Post-Award Services, the finance department, department
administrators, business managers, and administrative assistants from across MCG.
RACE is designed for departmental administrators, principal investigators, administrative assistants,
business managers, lab animal services, and anyone on campus involved in research. It provides effective
support for the faculty and the institution in obtaining
extramural project funding.
Why RACE?
RACE was developed to reduce MCG’s risk by improving employees understanding of policies and
procedures. It was also created to streamline the sponsored award process. This is achieved by
increasing the number of qualified personnel, minimizing errors and increasing the communication
within the research community. RACE will also give employees access to resources and contacts so that
they can expand their knowledge even more.
