Vascular Service

The physicians within the Section of Vascular Surgery practice Vascular Medicine,
directing both the medical and surgical care of patients with diseases of the arteries and
veins. Vascular diseases and their consequences are among the most common causes of death
and disability in our society. Our physicians have interests and experience in the full
range of vascular diseases including the following:
- Cerebrovascular Disease and Stroke
- Occlusive and Aneurysmal Disease of the Aortic Arch Vessels
- Thoracic Outlet Syndromes
- Visceral (Mesenteric) Ischemia
- Renal Vascular Disease (Renovascular Hypertension and Ischemic Nephropathy)
- Aneurysms of the Thoracic and Abdominal Aorta
- Peripheral Occlusive Disease
- Inflammatory Vascular and Vasospastic Disorders
- Thromboembolism and Disorders of the Veins
At the Medical College of Georgia, our Vascular Surgeons are personally involved in all
aspects of patient care from diagnosis, to treatment (medical and surgical) including both
endovascular and traditional operative procedures. In addition to these clinical
activities, the surgeons of the Vascular Surgery Service are actively engaged in clinical
as well as basic science research in order to further our understanding of these disorders
and to improve patient care.
