The MCG Section of Urology provides the highest quality patient care in urologic oncology (cancer of the prostate, bladder, kidney, ureter, testis, or penis), pediatric urology, kidney stones, erectile dysfunction, female urology, renal transplantation (urological aspects), male infertility, incontinence, neuro-urology, and general adult urology (prostate enlargement or BPH, prostatitis, urinary tract infections, urinary obstruction, urinary discomfort, scrotal problems). In addition to traditional medical and surgical therapies, MCG offers leading-edge technology by fellowship-trained surgeons such as laparoscopic nephrectomy, partial nephrectomy, laparoscopic prostatectomy, nerve-sparing prostatectomy, shock-wave therapy for kidney stones, laser treatment of stones or urinary tract tumors, advanced urinary tract reconstruction for both children and adults, continent diversion or orthotopic bladder replacement, and many others. The Section of Urology encompasses the urology divisions at the Medical College of Georgia Health Care System, Children’s Medical Center, and the Augusta Veterans Affairs Medical Center. In addition to excellent patient care, the Section of Urology has strong clinical and basic science research programs in prostate cancer and andrology (male sexual function). |
