The Department of Surgery is committed to excellence in education. Our residency and fellowship programs will exceed the ACGME requirements. We are committed to recruiting residents and fellows from diverse backgrounds and regions united by a common commitment to excellence. We seek an atmosphere of mutual respect in which faculty, medical students, residents and fellows work as colleagues. Our residents and fellows are paired with faculty advisors who serve as mentors. Numerous social events are held throughout the year to promote the sense of family within the Department. Residents who graduate from our program have an outstanding record of selection for fellowships in competitive subspecialties in surgery. Our residents and fellows have been successful in securing positions in academic departments and as leaders in the community practice of surgery.
