Trauma/Critical Care Service

The Trauma/Critical Care Surgery Service was established in 1981 and was
instrumental in the Medical College of Georgia's designation as the first
Level 1 Trauma center in the state of Georgia. The Trauma Service is
responsible for the initial evaluation and coordination of care for more
than 1,200 trauma victims each year. The Specialized Care Center opened in
March, 1993, and contains a twelve-bed shock/trauma intensive care unit.
