Georgia Lou Huff, M.D.

Hello, I am a non-traditional resident as I went to Saba University School of Medicine in 1997 and graduated in 2001. I did one year of Family Practice in a community hospital then, transferred to the Psychiatry Residency Program at East Carolina School of Medicine in Greenville, NC. After my third year I transferred to MCG Psychiatry Residency to finish my fourth year of Residency. I am a graduate of Anderson University and Clemson University. Before medical school I was Program Director of the School of Medical Technology at Anderson Area Medical Center which was affliated with Clemson University. I taught both didactic and clinical courses for many years at both institutions. I also taught Physical Science and Chemistry for several years in secondary education in school district 5, Anderson, SC. My permanent home is in Anderson, SC where my husband, children and grandchildren reside. I enjoy singing and playing the piano. I also enjoy helping my husband who has a Kennel and trains Labs to retrieve and hunt. I love to be with my children and grandchildren and to be involved with their many activities. I feel that the MCG Psychiatry Residency Program offers high quality training and experiences for it's residents. I have enjoyed this year and feel that this program has prepared me to meet the challenges I will encounter as a graduate.

    PSYCHOTIC DISORDERS FELLOW

Brian Miller, M.D.

I’m originally from Newark, Ohio (near Columbus). After heading south for undergraduate work at Vanderbilt University, I returned home for medical school at The Ohio State University. While at OSU, I also completed a master’s degree in public health.  After three years in the general psychiatry residency at MCG, I’m interrupting my clinical training to pursue a one-year fellowship in psychotic disorders.  Much of my work this year will focus on a doctoral thesis through collaborators at the University of Oulu in northern Finland, exploring paternal age as a risk factor for psychosis and mortality.  Departmental support of my research has taken me to the Georgia Psychiatric Physician’s Association Winter Meeting, Institute on Psychiatric Services, APA Research Colloquium for Junior Investigators, International Congress on Schizophrenia Research, and to meetings with collaborators in Helsinki and Oulu, Finland.  My wife, Kelly, is a biostatistician at MCG. We have two boys. Ethan turns 4 in January, and Jacob will be 1 in November. I’ve been extremely happy with the program here at MCG and life in Augusta. I hope you enjoy your visit. Please feel free to contact me with any questions.
