Holly Clark, M.D.
I went to the University of South Carolina for undergrad and majored in psychology. My medical school training was at the Medical University of South Carolina. My hobbies include hiking, fishing, reading and movies. Augusta has many things to offer including affordable living and great teaching staff. While interviewing here I felt that the residents here were among the friendliest I had met, and I was right. It is a great group of people and if I had to choose over again I would pick here without a doubt. Good luck and I hope you enjoy your visit here.

Brian Hammock, M.D.
I grew up in Macon, GA and moved to Athens, GA to get my undergraduate degree at UGA. While there I did research in Genetics (decided flies weren’t my thing) and Orthopedics (decided bones weren’t either) and indulged in frequent trips abroad. I attended MCG as a medical student and though I initially missed the collegial feel of Athens, I came to enjoy Augusta enough to rank MCG first in my match. Firstly, I thought the department struck a good balance between carrying the variety and number or pts to be good training, but not the miserable experience I saw others enduring during my interviews at big name academic centers. Currently I’m considering a child fellowship and am still able to appreciate the work/play equation I have at MCG. The faculty is attentive/responsive but not so large or embedded in research interests that resident issues get lost. I bought a turn of the century bungalow home a short walk from the Savannah River and run/bike on adjacent river trails nearly every day. I get most of my food from the farmers market down the street, pretend I’m Micheal Phelps in one of the best aquatic centers in GA, and take salsa lessons at Tropicabana. The residents here get together regularly to golf, shoot skeet, and just hang out. I enjoy my life here and would be happy to answer any questions you might have.

Rizwan Khan, M.D.
Greetings, my name is Rizwan Khan. After attending high school in Pakistan, I completed my undergraduate degree in Microbiology at the University of Florida (GO Gators! ). I completed Medical School at Nova-Southeastern College of Osteopathic Medicine, down in sunny (occasionally rainy and windy) Ft. Lauderdale, FL. So now I have inched my way slightly northward to pleasant Augusta, GA. Home of The Masters Golf tournament. My hobbies include working out, sports, going to movies, enjoying conversation with friends at coffee houses. I also enjoy reading books on Philosophy, Poetry, History, and yeah even Psychiatry!!! I feel that I have been fortunate as I have gotten to experience living in 2 different countries. This has broadened my world horizon and shaped my viewpoints. I also want to congratulate you on deciding to pursue a residency in Psychiatry. This is an exciting time for our field with all the latest advances in research achieved recently. In my mind, there is a good mix of science, art, instinct, empathy, and sense of reward in Psychiatry. I am also glad you are taking a look at MCG. I think you will find most people to be very supportive in our program. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to send smoke signals (just kidding)....No, we do have computers and phone lines here. Best of luck on your future endeavors.

Hello! I can tell you that I am extremely happy with the Psychiatry program here at MCG. Augusta is a wonderful city and my wife and I are very happy here. I am originally from Los Angeles, California and I received my MD from St. Matthews Medical School in the Cayman Islands. As someone who comes to Augusta from a big city, I can tell you my family and I love it here. The lower cost of living, combined with friendly and helpful residents and admin staff make MCG a great place to complete your training as a psychiatrist. Don’t hesitate to drop me an email with any questions you may have, and have a great visit here at MCG!

Jacqueline Williams, M.D.
Hello! My name is Jacqueline Williams but everyone calls me Jackie. I am originally from Piscataway, NJ. As a young adult I moved to Atlanta, Georgia to attend Spelman College, majoring in Psychology Premed. Upon graduation, I moved back to New Jersey, to begin my medical career. During medical school, I pursued many of my personal interests, i.e. representing my class in Hawaii for an AMA convention, mentored underclassmen as apart of the peer mentor program, and acted as a Student Doctor for our Student run clinic. Despite my attraction to large cities, MCG meets most of my needs: 1) the attendings, staff and residents are very supportive, 2) the proximity to several major cities and 3) the salaries and benefit packages are competitive. I also was impressed with the variety of patients I treat while on call. Augusta also has a nice artistic flare as well as great pool halls and 4 star restaurants. In closing, I hope you take this opportunity to visit our program and I look forward to meeting you.
