Dr. Peter F. Buckley named Associate Dean for Leadership Development

Dr. Peter F. Buckley, Chair of  the Medical College of Georgia Department of Psychiatry and Health Behavior, has been named the inaugural associate dean for leadership development  in the MCG School of Medicine. Dr. Buckley will work with Dean D. Dougles Miller in coordinating all aspects of recruitment for senior leadership  positions in the School  of Medicine . . .

Dr. Erick Messias selected for Global Burden of Disease Study

Dr. Erick Messias, psychiatrist and epidemiologist at the Medical College of Georgia, has been selected to assist in the Global Burden of Diseases, Injuries and Risk Factors Study, designed to determine the total burden of more than 150 diseases and injuries and 25 risk factors on people in more than 20 regions of the world . . .

Annual Report

The annual report reflects on the year's progress in embracing the vision of an academic department which is integrated, collaborative, and whose clinical and academic activities are programmatically focused. There is also clear evidence of academic growth, significant administrative restructuring, positive financial performance, and greater integration. The Department's financial stability is now a platform for recruitment of new faculty and continued development of its vision to be a resource to the community.

NAMI Georgia Walk

Edna Stirewalt and Gareth Fenley

Edna Stirewalt, Research Manager (L) and Gareth Fenley, Certified Peer Specialist (R), participated in a walk-a-thon for NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) on September 29, 2007 in Atlanta. The goal of the NAMIWalks Program is to raise funds for advocacy, education and support efforts through collaboration between the NAMI national organization, NAMI state organizations and NAMI Affiliate organizations engaged in conducting the walk.
