Brain and Spinal Cord Tumors
Surgery by two fellowship trained Pediatric Neurosurgeons with advanced technical facilities including functional mapping, computer guided surgery, laser and ultrasonic aspirator.

Craniofacial Surgery
At the Craniofacial Center, we utilize the most current techniques, including absorbable reconstruction devices (plates and screws) and reconstruction with bone and materials which make bone. We avoid metal and plastic implants whenever possible. We also treat severe cases of skull molding: positional plagiocephaly.

Brachial Plexus Injuries
Infants and children with brachial plexus injuries can be helped by our multi-disciplinary team. Children can be significantly helped by proper diagnosis, therapy and, when needed, surgery.

Hydrocephalus
Hydrocephalus treatments include an operation which can cure the condition for some patients. This operation, called a ventriculostomy has been performed at the Medical College of Georgia since 1994.

Head Injuries
Air transport is available to our state of the art Pediatric ICU. Two neurosurgeons work with five pediatric intensive care faculty and a complete team of Pediatric-trauma specialists, all with fellowship training.

Seizures
Using continuous EEG monitoring, our pediatric neurologists are able to identify children and adolescents who can be cured or greatly helped by surgery to remove the brain area causing seizures.

Myelomeningocele and related disorders (MARD)
Effective surgery initially preserves good outcomes and minimizes early and late problems for the child and family. A multidisciplinary team will help improve life. This includes a Urologist, Orthopedic surgeon, Neurosurgeons and Pediatric physical medicine and rehabilitation.

Cerebral Palsy
Neurosurgical techniques including the established and successful selective dorsal rhizotomy and the new, but very beneficial, Baclofen pumps are available.
