Jefferson Hospital

Rita Culvern, an RN and an excellent administrator, became Administrator of the Jefferson Hospital in Louisville. She reorganized, renovated and rejuvenated the hospital, and established a multispecialty clinic, enlisting physicians and surgeons from all adjacent areas to come practice in Louisville.

In the summer of 2006, based in part at least upon our successful clinic in Sandersville, Mrs. Culvern decided to add Hematology/Oncology to her stable of physicians.

We started seeing patients in Louisville in October of 2006. This clinic is held on the 2nd and 4th Thursday afternoons each month. Dr. Amanda May and Dr. Russell R. Moores staff this clinic as well, going directly to Louisville when leaving Sandersville. On occasion, fellows attend as well.

The situation is different in Louisville, in that we do not have our own clinic with designated nurses and personnel. We fit into an already established multispecialty clinic. However, we have been able to ferret out excellent nurses and personnel, and again feel very comfortable practicing Hematology/Oncology from 50 miles away.

Incidentally, our outstanding hospital administratrix has retired and is now mayoress of our little town.
