TAILORx -- Trial Assigning IndividuaLized Options for Treatment (Rx) of ER and/or PR positive breast cancer

The purpose of this research study is to compare three Study Groups, randomized into four arms:

  • Primary Study Group (moderate chance of recurrence): Randomly assigned to either:
    • Hormonal therapy alone (Arm B)
    • Chemotherapy plus hormonal therapy (Arm C)
  • Secondary Study Group-1 (least likely chance of recurrence): Hormonal therapy, but no chemotherapy (Arm A).
  • Secondary Study Group-2 (most likely chance of recurrence): Chemotherapy plus hormonal therapy (Arm D).

Eligibility

You may be eligible for this trial if:

  • You have breast cancer that is estrogen receptor and/or progesterone receptor positive that does not appear to have spread to the axillary lymph nodes.
  • You have received surgical treatment for your cancer.
  • It has been less than 84 days since your final surgical procedure to treat the primary tumor
  • Your tumor size is 1.1-5 cm
  • No prior radiation therapy or chemotherapy for this malignancy.
