S0226 -- Anastrozole Vs Anastrozole + Fulvestrant as First Line Therapy for Post Menopausal Women with Metastatic Breast Cancer

The purpose of this study is to find out what effects (good or bad) the combination of hormonal agents anastrozole and fulvestrant have over anastrozole alone on breast cancer.

Both drugs anastrozole and fulvestrant are approved by the FDA for the treatment of metastatic breast cancer. However, it is the combination of the two drugs that is considered experimental.


Eligibility

You may be eligible for this trial if:

  • You are female and postmenopausal
  • You have metastatic breast cancer
  • You are ER or PgR positive
  • Your prior adjuvant or neoadjuvant chemo has been completed at least 12 months prior to registration
  • You have measurable or non-measurable disease
