  • MCG Comprehensive Cancer Center / Solid Tumor Oncology

The Solid Tumor Oncology Program at the Medical College of Georgia
incorporates an integrated, multi-disciplinary approach to cancer care.  We provide services in surgical oncology, radiation oncology, and
medical oncology in a comprehensive and patient-oriented way that maximizes patient convenience and excellence of care. Our scope includes all solid tumors of the body including lung, breast, colon, and prostate. Our specialists have trained at premier cancer institutions around the world and now share their expertise with the patients of the CSRA.

Clinical research is offered through continued participation in both ECOG and NSABP clinical trials through the MB-CCOP grant.  These physicians work in concert to provide optimum care in an outpatient setting.  Referrals for evaluation of all cancers are welcomed.  For outpatient referrals please contact the Comprehensive Cancer Center Coordinator at (706) 721-6744.

  • Clinical Trials Development Division

There has been renewed enthusiasm in clinical research through the MB-CCOP grant.  The section is actively participating in many clinical protocols and is constantly adding new trials in an effort to improve the treatment of all major malignancies. These efforts to evaluate drugs ensure that our patients receive cutting-edge therapy
as it becomes available.  This allows our faculty and staff to initiate, investigate and author its own clinical trials.  With a combined, dedicated effort among community physicians and the wealth of opportunities available for patients at MCG, this division is structured to make a significant difference in finding treatment
and cures for cancer.  For information and referrals regarding clinical trial, please contact the CCOP office at (706) 721-6875.  Please see the protocol list for specific trials available.

  • Comprehensive Sickle Cell Anemia Center

The premiere Comprehensive Sickle Cell Center in Georgia is centered at the Medical College of Georgia under the direction of Dr. Abdullah Kutlar.  Outreach clinics and telemedicine centers offer ways for physicians based at MCG to extend coverage to all part of Georgia, allowing patient to receive care closed to home.  There is an educational program available that focuses on the education of physicians, nurses, public schools and the community.  For additional information, please contact the Sickle Cell Center at (706) 721-2171.

  • Adult Hemophilia Clinic

Adult Hemophilia Center exists to improve the quality of life for all affected by hemophilia, related bleed disorders and their complications by way of comprehensive care, counseling, educational programs, community service and research. The Hemophilia Program follows approximately 100 patients with inherited bleeding disorders (hemophilia and von Willebrand disease) in the area and is under the direction of Dr. Kavita Natarajan.  It offers comprehensive services to the patients including education and social work.   For information about any of these services, please contact Beth Meagher at (706) 721-0870 or email bmeagher@mcg.edu

  • Bone Marrow Transplant Program

The autologous and allogeneic leukemia program is expanding rapidly.  This program provides more services to the community and is able to treat cancer patients near their homes and families.  The BMT program is under the direction of Dr. Anand Jillella.  Both allogeneic and autologous stem cell transplants are offered for the treatment of hematologic malignancies (acute leukemias, chronic myelogenous leukemia, lymphomas, multiple myeloma).  The program will be expanding to perform matched unrelated donor (MUD) and mismatched stem cell transplants and to cover non-malignant hematologic disorders.  Active research programs include novel approaches to myeloma and AML.  The transplant program involves many MCG departments, including Medicine, Pediatrics, Surgery, Pathology, Nursing, the Blood Bank and the Georgia Radiation Therapy Center. For further information, please contact Carol Pardue, RN at (706) 721-7716 or email at capardue@mcg.edu.

  • Fellowship Training Program

The Division of Hematology/Oncology offers a three-year combined training program in hematology and medical oncology.  The division currently has 15 faculty members (10 full-time clinical, 3 part-time clinical, 2 full-time research) and is approved for a total of six fellowship positions by the ACGME. The Fellowship Training Program provides a multi-faceted program of education, clinical care and research.  A residency elective includes both inpatient and outpatient experience and emphasizes the diagnosis and treatment of common neoplastic and hematologic disorders.
