Satellite Transplant Clinic Program Through generous support by the Carlos and Marguerite Mason Trust, the Section of Nephrology has developed an outreach program to staff clinics in remote locations in Georgia. This will foster pre-transplant evaluation and post-transplant care, and will facilitate referral for transplantation for rural Georgians. In May 2005, the first Savannah clinic was initiated, and clinics are now active in Albany and Macon. These clinics are staffed bimonthly, and we partner with community nephrologists to assist in co-managing patients in the post-transplant period. This program has been hugely successful, and patients across the state are excited about being followed by their primary nephrologist as well as the transplant physicians in their local communities. |
