We specialize in disorders of the gastrointestinal tract including esophagus, stomach, duodenum, small bowel, colon and diseases of the pancreas, liver and bile ducts.

Mission and Vision

To become a Division of very high quality that provides the best patient care and services within the region, that offers services unavailable elsewhere in the CSRA, that provides integrated care with other MCG Departments, that promotes clinical and basic research within its discipline, that provides high quality educational programs, promotes self- development and serves the community.

Patient Care

To provide quality sub-specialty care with easy, patient friendly access, and to provide a broad spectrum of services including  nutritional, hepatologic, & GI consultative care and endoscopic services.

Education

To provide educational services to the schools of medicine and allied health and to the residents and faculty of MCG as well as to the inhabitants of the state through community out reach and to the  physicians in the region through continuing medical education.

Research

To promote investigation within the fields of gastroenterology, hepatology and nutrition.

Community Service

To participate in services to the community through programs such as minority recruitment, and through participation in community health programs and provision of CME activities.

Faculty and Staff Development

To foster the further education and personal growth of the members of the section to facilitate their future success.

Special Procedures/Endoscopy [SpEndo]

All endoscopic procedures are performed in the Special Procedures/Endoscopy suite.  Check in is at the South entrance to the hospital.  For more information and scheduling, please call 721-7233.
