After Your Ablation Procedure

Please contact our office at: 706-721-6660 if you have any questions following your procedure or if you experience any of the following conditions: 

  • Temperature greater than 101 degrees.
  • Coughing or spitting up of blood.
  • Difficulty swallowing.
  • Foul odor or drainage at your catheter insertion sites in the groins or the neck.
  • Bleeding at your catheter sites.
  • Increasing redness or swelling at your catheter sites.
  • Visual, speech or hearing changes.
  • Numbness, tingling or weakness in hand and arm or a leg.

After your ablation it is common to feel fatigued for several days and sore at the catheter insertion sites.  Bruising may also commonly occur.  You should avoid strenuous activity and heavy lifting for 10 to 14 days after the ablation.  This includes: lifting, pulling and pushing of heavy objects greater than 10 pounds.  After 10 to 14 days you may resume normal activity as tolerated. 

Your follow up visit with Dr. Berman or Dr. Sorrentino will be scheduled for approximately 10 to 14 days after the procedure in his office.  If you have any questions prior to this appointment please do not hesitate to contact us at 706-721-6660.
