Cardiology Fellowship at MCG

The purpose of the Cardiology Fellowship Program at the Medical College of Georgia is to train individuals in all the fundamental skills necessary to be an excellent Clinical Cardiologist. In addition to the fundalmental skills, the program ensures that these individuals obtain specific focused clinical skills as well. For individuals desiring to pursue clinical careers, the CV Disease fellowship is designed to provide additional focused training in Echocardiography, Nuclear Cardiology, Electrophysiology, and Invasive and Interventional Cardiology. The three-year program will prepare the individual for ABIM board certification in the subspecialty of Cardiovascular Disease.

The fellowship program has 12 current fellows who serve as consultants and work as members of the Coronary Care Unit team. They also serve in the Nuclear, Echocardiography, Electrophysiology and Cardiac Catheterization laboratories. These endeavors occur in the Medical College of Georgia (MCGHI) Hospital, a 630-bed center, and the MCG Cardiovascular Clinic located on Pope and Chafee Avenue. The adjacent Veterans Administration Medical Center (VAMC) is affiliated with the fellowship program. The VAMC services 400 beds. MCGHI encompasses both the Adult Care Center (ACC) and the stand-alone Children's Medical Center. Patients are referred from throughout Georgia and the Southeast for cardiovascular problems, which are both straightforward and complex.
