What is medical informatics?

Basically it is using computer applications in medical care. A more advanced definition is that it is the use of computer applications to gather data and manage clinical information. Medical Informatics is the collection of electronic tools that enable the clinician to apply that data and knowledge in the decision-making process, at the time and place that a medical decision needs to be made.

How do I learn more about medical informatics?
