Dear Student:

We are excited to know that you will be coming to Southwest GA for part of your clinical training.  Community-based training gives you a unique opportunity to experience health care in a real world setting and Southwest GA is fortunate to have an outstanding network of clinical sites and faculty ready to teach you!

Please be sure to prepare for your rotation in Southwest GA by examining the links for your respective clinical site.  Each hospital in our region has a credentialing process that must be strictly adhered to before beginning your rotation.  It is your responsibility to get all paperwork completed in a timely manner.  If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the SOWEGA-AHEC center staff listed below.

  • For rotations in the Albany area, you will need to come to the SOWEGA-AHEC office to complete the necessary forms on the first day of your rotation.
  • When you rotate at South Georgia Surgical Associates in Thomasville, you will need to complete and return to SOWEGA-AHEC the John D. Archbold Memorial Hospital paperwork several weeks prior to your rotation.  Click here for Archbold paperwork.  Contact SOWEGA-AHEC if you cannot access these forms or if you would like to have the forms mailed or faxed to you.
  • In Tifton, you will need to see Harriett Lawrence in the Medical Staffing office at Tift Regional Medical Center on your first day of clinicals to complete the necessary paperwork.
  • In Cordele, you will be assisted with hospital credentialing at Crisp Regional Hospital by your preceptor’s office staff.

SOWEGA-AHEC housing is available for all rotations in Southwest GA on a first come, first served basis.  Please note that our housing is in high demand and is available to all health professions students coming in to Southwest GA.  Please notify us of any housing needs as soon as possible.  We will make every effort to accommodate you in one of our facilities.  Housing is provided at no charge for students through the generous support of SOWEGA-AHEC community partner hospitals throughout the region.

We hope you have a great experience here in Southwest GA!  Please feel free to call on the AHEC staff for any questions you may have.

Sincerely,

Julie Roth, Preceptor Coordinator

Ginette Mills, Student Support Coordinator
