A note from
the Albany Area
Primary
Health Care, Inc
Albany Area Primary Health Care, Inc. operates eight offices to provide primary care to residents of Albany and surrounding counties. MCG Medical Students will spend time in two offices for their pediatric clerkship while in Albany. The two offices are listed below. Students will spend the majority of their clinical time in the Albany clinic.
Rotation Information: Students should plan to arrive in Albany on the first Monday of your rotation following the pediatrics orientation on campus. For housing check in on Monday students should report to the Security Office at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. There will be a housing packet and keys waiting for you there.
Students should plan to meet their preceptor on Tuesday morning in the Doctors' Lounge of Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.
There is necessary paperwork to
complete at the SOWEGA AHEC. You will be given time to go to the SOWEGA
AHEC offices on Tuesday afternoon (the first full day of your rotation).
Albany Housing Information
Directions to Phoebe Putney
Memorial Hospital from Interstate I-75 South (from Atlanta) -
take Exit 99 (Georgia Hwy. 300) to Albany.
At the first traffic light turn onto Clark Avenue. Proceed 1.5 miles and
turn right on the Liberty Expressway (Hwy. 19 North). Proceed to the
Jefferson Street Exit. Take the Jefferson Street South Exit. You
will see a hospital sigh at that exit. Proceed on Jefferson Street through
several traffic lights. You will pass a sign for the Emergency Center
Entrance on your right. At the next intersection you will see the
hospital's main entrance on your right.
Directions to the SOWEGA AHEC from Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital -
the SOWEGA AHEC is located minutes from the
hospital campus. Take 3rd Avenue from the hospital for approximately 3
miles and the SOWEGA AHEC is located on the left side of the street. The
address is 1512 West Third Avenue.
Check Out: At the end of your rotation, you are to return your keys and badge to the SOWEGA AHEC Office. Call if that is a problem to make other necessary arrangements. Grades will be held until all items are returned.
