Rotation Information:  Bulloch Pediatrics is open Monday thru Friday from 8:30 AM until 5:00 PM.  Dr. Perkins admits patients to the East Georgia Regional Medical Center where she is the Chair of the Department of Pediatrics and also serves as a member of the Board of Directors and as physician liaison to the board at HMA.  Students will have to contact Kathy Holmes at East Georgia Regional Medical Center to arrange a time to meet with her prior to rotating with Dr. Perkins in the hospital.  Students should call her at (912) 486-1050 to schedule a convenient time to attend orientation.

 

Students will also have the opportunity to spend part of their clerkship time in Statesboro with physicians at Georgia Southern University Health Services located on the campus at GSU.  The time rotating at Student Services is normally the afternoon that Dr. Perkins is off.

 

Directions to Bulloch Pediatrics from Augusta:  Take Gordon Highway/US 78/US 278/Jefferson Davis Memorial Highway and merge onto US 25 south and follow for approximately 27 miles. Turn right onto US 25/GA 121 and continue for approximately 48 miles.  Turn right onto Jones Lane Memorial Highway and follow for approximately 2 miles.  Turn left onto GA 67/Fair Road and go 2 miles.  End at 1497 Fair Road, Suite 200.

 

Directions to Georgia Southern University Student Health Services from Bulloch Pedaitrics:  Follow signs and the Georgia Southern University map to the Student Health Services Center.  Park in the visitor parking.  After checking in with the clinic, walk to the Public Safety Building to obtain a temporary parking pass.  You will need your drivers license for the parking pass.  There may be a small fee for parking.

 

Housing:  Currently there is no AHEC housing for students completing this rotation.  If you are interested in doing your Pediatric Clerkship in Statesboro you will need to be able to provide your own housing or contact the MCAHEC to see if alternative housing may be arranged.

Statesboro Information:  Statesboro is a picturesque city located in Bulloch County, Georgia.  As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 22,698.  The city is the county seat of Bulloch County.  Statesboro is located in a part of Georgia that was agricultural to a very high degree.  Statesboro is the college town of Georgia Southern University, founded in 1906.

Check Out:  Please check out with Dr. Perkins on the last day of your rotation.  Grades may be held until all keys and borrowed items are returned.
