What to do before your scheduled rotation: Students should contact Amber Morris at least one week prior to your rotation to make arrangements for reporting to your rotation. Students are expected to report to their rotation site on the second day of their rotation. The first day is reserved for orientation, travel and housing check-in. Rotation/Site Contact: Amber Morris Harbin Clinic Pediatrics Phone (706) 238-8046 Please see the attached documentation below pertaining to the student orientation process. Students will not be permitted to participate in a clinical rotation unless all requirements are met. Contract/Student/Volunteer Checklist Student Health Requirement Form (must be completed prior to reporting for clinical rotation) Students will be instructed to
print and bring the transcript from the orientation to the AHEC by 8:30 AM the
first day of your rotation to have it signed by the Preceptor Coordinator. From
there, they will proceed to Floyd Human Resources to have a student ID Badge
made. Students will then make rounds in the hospital with the attending physician. The following supporting documentation must be up to date and presented
upon arrival at the AHEC: Rotation Information: On the first day of your rotation students should report to the third floor/newborn nursery and ask for the pediatric attending physician on call. Typically students will spend their mornings making rounds at the hospital in newborn nursery and inpatient adolescent with the physician on call. Afternoons will be in the clinic seeing patients with various physicians in the practice. Students will have the opportunity to work with various types of students from other health professional programs as well as residents. Unfortunately at this point MCG students completing rotations in pediatrics do not have unlimited access to the resident lounge. If you need to gain access or speak with an attending in the lounge the number is #6966. Harbin Clinic has satellite offices and students will have the opportunity to work in these practice locations. The main office is in Rome located in the professional building adjacent to the hospital. Students will also spend time in a second Rome location with Dr. Donner seeing pediatric cardiology patients. There is also a Cartersville location.
