Rotation Information:  This is a four-physician practice, and Dr. Rodriguez as the lead faculty will be assigning your grade. Dr Schuh is the other MCG faculty who will have input on your grade. You will work with both physicians on a rotating basis. You are expected to do hospital rounds each morning with the assigned physician or nurse practitioner.

Afterwards, you will see patients in the office according to the schedule given on your first day. Toward the middle of your rotation, you will have the opportunity to see selected patients and present them to the staff. Saturday and Sunday you may round with the MD on call if you want to. Please schedule ahead. There is no overnight call. Please be on time and keep each preceptor aware of your learning needs. They will do their best to see that you get the experiences you desire.

The patient population includes a large Spanish speaking group. If any student is particularly interested in this culture and/or utilizing or expanding Spanish speaking skills, they are encouraged to rotate here.

Check In:  All WellStar students must complete and fax the WellStar Confidentiality Statement form, Well Student Information form, Immunization Record and HIPPA Awareness Training printout to Janet Beard at (770) 792-1465 at least ONE WEEK PRIOR to the start of your rotation. The Student Information form must have a verification signature (the MCG Clerkship Coordinator can verify), and the Confidentiality Statement form must have a witness signature. You will not be able to start your rotation until this documentation is submitted and approved by Janet Beard.

Complete the WellStar Badge Application Worksheet and take it to Security Services at WellStar Kennestone Hospital Emergency Room or WellStar Cobb Hospital Emergency Room to obtain your WellStar badge. Please contact Janet Beard at (770) 792-5333 should you have any questions regarding the WellStar student forms.

Note: Opening RTF forms using MSWord allows the user to tab from field to field to complete the form.

You are expected at your preceptor's office by 9:00 AM the next day. You will need to obtain your WellStar badge on the afternoon you arrive or before reporting to your preceptor’s office the next day.
