Dear Neurology Student,

We are pleased you are coming to Northwest Georgia. The following information will help make your stay as pleasant as possible. Please call the Blue Ridge AHEC office at (706) 235-0776 extension 208 for assistance at least ONE WEEK PRIOR to your rotation start date. 

Directions to Blue Ridge AHEC

    2007 North Broad Street, Rome, GA  30161
  • From Atlanta go north on I-75. Take exit 290. West (left) on Hwy 20.
  • Pass Wal-Mart and Emory Cartersville Hospital on your left to a “T” intersection with a traffic light.
  • Left at this light following sign for Route 411; get immediately in the right lane.
  • Right up the exit ramp to a stop sign. You are now on Routes 41/411.
  • Follow for about 6 minutes through several lights; pass Bojangles.
  • Be in the right lane. Look for a small sign to Rome.
  • Right on 411. (You are no longer on route 41). Follow for at least 20 minutes.
  • Pass one traffic light about half way. Come to a traffic light with a Texaco station on the left. This road is called “Loop 1”.
  • Right on Loop 1 (also knows as “the Bypass”). Go to the third traffic light (Hwy 53).
  • Left on Hwy 53. Go 1.0 mile passing a jail, funeral home, and church.
  • Look for a Texaco station on the right at the first traffic light (North Street)
  • Across the street are a large house, a small house, and a beauty shop on the right. Blue Ridge AHEC is in the large house (2007 North Broad St), and some student housing is in the small house (2005 North Broad St).
  • Take a right into last driveway before the traffic light, at the end of a red brick wall. If you pass it, you will see an Antique Mall on the right.
  • Park in the student parking lot behind 2005 North Broad St and walk behind the small house to the back of the large house. Come into the back door with a short stairway. Turn right and walk through the kitchen to the Preceptor Coordinator's office.

Check In:

Please arrive at the Blue Ridge AHEC office no later than 4:30 PM on the first day of your rotation. Please contact the Blue Ridge AHEC office if you cannot arrive by 4:30 so arrangements can be made for you to pick up your houses keys and forms. You are expected at the Blue Ridge AHEC office at 8:30 AM on Tuesday for Floyd and Redmond Regional Medical Center orientation.

IMPORTANT: You must complete and fax the five (5) forms below (Redmond Regional Medical Center Application for Appointment to Allied Health Staff, Student Orientation Packet, Confidentiality Agreement, Background Investigation Information Sheet, and Notification and Release) to Kathy Kean at (706) 378-3113 a MINIMUM OF TWO WEEKS PRIOR to the start of your rotation. Your ability to go to Redmond Regional Medical Center with your preceptor will be delayed if this is not submitted in the specified time frame.

Note: Opening RTF forms using MSWord allows the user to tab from field to field to complete the form.

Rome Housing Information

To Floyd Medical Center Employee Health and Human Resources:

  • Turn RIGHT out of 2007 North Broad Street.
  • At 4th traffic light turn RIGHT onto Broad Street.
  • Continue straight on Broad Street and turn RIGHT onto 2nd Avenue.
  • Cross the bridge and go through the traffic light, turn RIGHT onto W. 4th Street just past Barron Stadium.
  • Turn LEFT into the parking lot behind FMC Human Resource/Employee Health brick building.
  • Park in the Visitor parking area at the back of the building.
  • Go to Employee Health using the stairs on the outside of the building.

Human Resources:

  • LEFT onto 2nd Avenue.
  • Floyd Business Offices are located on the right past Daniel’s Diner and before the 5th traffic light.
  • Turn right into the parking lot off of 2nd Avenue.
  • The Human Resource office entrance is located on the far left if you are facing the building.

Directions to Redmond Regional Medical Center from Floyd Human Resource Office:

  • LEFT onto 2nd Avenue.
  • Continue straight on 2nd Avenue, which will become Martha Berry Blvd.
  • LEFT onto Redmond Road (Harbin Clinic is on left at intersection of Martha Berry Blvd and Redmond Road).
  •  LEFT at next traffic light.
  • RIGHT into Redmond Regional Medical Center parking lot.
  • Enter through the Outpatient Entrance and take elevator to the 1st Floor.
  • Left off of the elevator and the Human Resource office is on the right.

To Meet with your Preceptor:

    Harbin Clinic Neurosciences from Redmond Regional Medical Center:
  • LEFT onto John Maddox Drive from the RRMC parking lot.
  • Continue straight at traffic light on John Maddox Drive.
  • RIGHT at next traffic light onto Veterans Memorial Hwy.
  • LEFT at 3rd traffic light (GMC Dealership on left and Rome High School on right).
  • RIGHT onto Three Rivers Drive.
  • Harbin Clinic Neurosciences is on the left and in the same building as Rome Internal Medicine Associates.

Harbin Clinic Neurosciences from Blue Ridge AHEC:

  • LEFT onto North Broad Street.
  • LEFT at next traffic light onto Veterans Memorial Hwy.
  • RIGHT at next traffic light (GMC Dealership on right and Rome High School on left).
  • RIGHT onto Three Rivers Drive.
  • Harbin Clinic Neurosciences is on the left and in the same building as Rome Internal Medicine Associates.

Check Out:

Please check out with the Blue Ridge AHEC staff on the last day of your rotation. You are to return your keys. Your grades will be held until keys are returned. Please call to make arrangements.
