Site Contacts: Pam Bachelor, Office Manager Georgia Emergency Associates Phone (912) 691-1533 Rotation Information: The Magnolia Coastlands AHEC welcomes you to Savannah and the Department of Emergency Medicine at St. Joseph's Candler Hospital. Emergency physician services at Candler St. Joseph's Hospital are provided by Georgia Emergency Associates (GEA). GEA was founded in 1994 by Dr. Brian J. Kornblatt, MD, FACEP. He is the founder of GEA and serves as the president and CEO. GEA's clinical staff is made up of 50 physicians, 24 physician assistants, and 13 nurse practitioners that staff seven hospital emergency departments and one urgent care clinic. Please contact the Magnolia Coastlands AHEC as soon as possible if housing is needed for this rotation. Housing is provided on a first come, first serve basis. Check-In at Hospital: Students must contact Amy Weaver at St. Joseph's Candler Hospital Medical Staff Services to arrange orientation for the hospital. She can be reached at (912) 819-8025.
Check-In at Preceptor/Site: Students must email Dr. Rick Shields at GEA prior to arrange schedule time to meet their preceptor; rshields15@comcast.net. Housing for St. Joseph's Candler Hospital Dept. of EM Site Directions from Augusta: Take US-25/GA 121 for approximately 45 miles. Turn right onto US 301 south/US 25 south/Jones Lane Memorial Hwy. for approximately 10 miles. Merge onto Interstate 16 east. Follow Interstate 16 east for approximately 48 miles. Merge onto GA 21 south via Exit 164A. Follow for approximately 5 miles and turn left onto Reynolds Street. Have a great rotation!
