PATIENTS

It is the responsibility of each candidate to provide their own patients and it is recommended that each applicant secure back up patients.  The Medical College of Georgia School of Dentistry does not allow candidates access to the schools patient records.

  • The board requires that candidates make arrangements for their patients to receive follow-up care if treatment during the exam is unsatisfactory.

  • Treatment of patients in the dental school is prohibited except for academically registered students.

  • Employees in the school will be present to dispense supplies and materials during the examination.  There will be NO chair side assistants.

  • Candidates must strictly adhere to all CDC guidelines concerning barrier protection and instrument/equipment sterilization.  Sterilization facilities will be available from 7:30 am until 5:00 pm on the first and second days of the exam and from 7:00 am until 1:30 pm the last exam day.  The sterilization facility is located in room AD 3010.

  • We invite dental and dental hygiene candidates to visit the Medical College of Georgia School of Dentistry to become acquainted with our facilities.  The clinic facilities will be available for inspection on Wednesdays from 11:30 am until 1:00 pm by prior appointment only.  Please call Bernard Bembry at 706-721-9429 to arrange for a tour.

  • Children are prohibited in the clinic area.  There are no facilities for children; please inform patients that children may not be left unattended in the waiting area.  Please instruct patients to leave their children at home or arrange to have a responsible adult available to supervise them at all times.

SUPPLIES AND EQUIPMENT

  • Candidates must supply their own cavitorns.  They are not available for rent at MCG.

  • MCG  dental units will accommodate cavitrons with a ¼” male quick disconnect.  The clinic will be open prior to 11:30 am on the first day of the exam if you wish to check the fit of your cavitron.

  • Candidates must supply their own dentoform as specified by CRDTS.  The dentoform must be purchased in advance from Acadental Inc, (913-384-7390)

  • Once the examination begins, the examination areas are secured overnight.  You may choose to leave your equipment at your treatment cubical.  However, neither CRDTS nor the School of Dentistry is liable for any items lost or stolen.

  • If you should experience any difficulty with equipment during the examination, do not attempt to make repairs.  Qualified equipment technicians will be available in the clinic.  Inform the clinic assistant of any equipment problems.

STERILIZATION

  • Candidates are responsible for providing their own instruments and handpieces for the examination.  Every effort will be made to sterilize the instruments.
