WHAT IT IS:
The Externship Program is a 3 day program of the Medical College of Georgia School of Dentistry Department of Periodontics. This program invites national dental school seniors who may have an interest in becoming a Periodontist to visit the School of Dentistry, observe Clinics, interact with the current residents and faculty of the Advanced Education in Periodontics Program, and interview for the upcoming program if desired.
HISTORY:
Dr. Glenn Maze, director of advanced education in periodontics, fulfilled a long time dream in 2009 to create
an externship for aspiring periodontists. Six candidates participated in this three-day program in May, which included observing at the dental school, the Charlie Norwood Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center and private practices in Augusta. Also included was a roundtable with residents, recent graduates and mid-career periodontists.
