Evaluation tools used by Occupational Therapists
Center for the Study of Occupational Therapy Educaion

Purpose:

To provide the organizational structure for the systematic study and evaluation of current evidence, advancing educational content and instructional processes related to the discipline of occupational therapy, and to disseminate information obtained from such studies through technical reports, publications, grants, professional forums and workshops.

Goals:

  1. To identify, examine and analyze the major elements that influence the design, organization, structure and functioning of the occupational therapy profession.

  2. To study the basic concepts and assumptions that lead to the development of an evidence based body of knowledge and skills incorporated in the discipline of occupational therapy and which continue to guide the direction of its scholarship and practice.

  3. Build an inclusive linkage of education, research and practice, by designing and testing alternative models for learning and practice in the discipline of occupational therapy and its emerging practice areas.

  4. To disseminate information obtained from such studies by articulating OT's value and individuals, organizations and communities.

  5. To build the capacity to fulfill the OT profession potential and mission identified in AOTA's Centennial Vision.
