From the Dean ...

Dear SAHS Faculty and Staff, Dean, Shelley C. Mishoe, PhD

You are being asked to consider sharing with those less fortunate through the annual State Charitable Campaign Drive that is going on now. In my addresses to the School and other presentations, I often quote Theodore Roosevelt who said "Far and away the best prize that life has to offer is the chance to work hard at work that is worth doing." We are fortunate each day with the chance to work hard (no exaggeration on my part), doing work that is worth doing to support our mission in teaching, research and service! Our work has value and meaning to ourselves and society. We are blessed to have opportunities to use our given talents and to be rewarded, not only intrinsically, but in a tangible way through wages and benefits.

In our great country, there are millions less fortunate who do not have health insurance, meaningful work and enough dollars to meet the most basic needs. I urge you to be thankful for all that you have been given and to please consider giving something back to others in need.

The State Charitable Drive includes many worthwhile charities. I encourage you to be generous and to especially consider choosing those charities where the dollars stay right here in the CSRA to support our local citizens.

May you be richly blessed for all that you are and all that you do!

Warmest regards,

Shelley C. Mishoe, PhD, RRT, FAARC
