Master of Public Health in Informatics (iMPH)

 

 

MISSION AND GOALS FOR THE BS-HIA & POST BACCALAURATE PROGRAMS

 

The primary purpose of the Health Information Administration (HIA) program is to prepare competent entry-level health information management professionals for a variety of roles within the health care delivery system of the State of Georgia and the nation. Our department is also committed to enhancing the visibility of the role of the health information professional by providing support, continuing education, and consultation to the general and professional publics as well as the institution. To further this mission, faculty in the Department of Health Informatics will participate in the promotion and expansion of excellence in research and scholarly activities related to healthcare delivery, health information management, and education.

 

GOAL 1:   The HIA curriculum will include, at a minimum, the required knowledge cluster content and experiences to enable students to meet current RHIA entry-level competencies.
GOAL 2:   Faculty will demonstrate current knowledge and expertise in the areas they teach.
GOAL 3:   Graduates will demonstrate RHIA entry-level competencies.
GOAL 4:   The HIA program will provide leadership and educational opportunities to its community of interest.

MISSION AND VALUES OF THE INFORMATICS MASTERS OF PUBLIC HEALTH PROGRAM (iMPH)

 

The mission of the informatics Masters of Public Health Program at the Medical College of Georgia is to prepare leaders who manage, analyze, disseminate, and apply information to enhance wellness and quality of life for individuals and communities. This is accomplished through an academic experience that combines excellence in education, research and service related to public health and health informatics.


Leadership

 

As the only public health program in the University System of Georgia with an informatics concentration, the iMPH program at the Medical College of Georgia leads the way in preparing public health professionals. The faculty and staff are dedicated to the success of our program; therefore, we value mentorship and the development of leaders.
