MPH Admission and Selection

 
 
The DHI places primary emphasis on undergraduate college GPA (3.0 or higher), official GRE* scores less than five years old and three letters of recommendation acknowledging your academic and/or professional accomplishments provided by current or past professors and/or professional employment supervisors. For those whose first language is not English, official TOEFL scores (less than two years old) must be submitted.

*In special occasions, waivers of the GRE requirement will be granted to professionals with terminal degrees (MD, PhD, DDS, DMD, ScD, EdD, DBA, etc.) from accredited United States universities.

School of Graduate Studies Technical Standards

The qualification for admission to and graduate from the various programs in the School of Graduate Studies is dependent upon possession of the following technical standards:

  1. The intellectual capacity to meet curricular requirements including the ability to effectively solve experimental problems, measure, calculate, reason, analyze, integrate and synthesize in a timely fashion. In addition, they must be able to comprehend three dimensional relationships.
  2. Physical ability to pursue teaching, sever and/or independent research including the ability to observe and participate in experiments in the basic sciences. Candidates must be able to acquire information from verbal communications, written documents, films, slides or videos.
  3. The ability to communicate effectively with mentors, peers and other professionals in the academic community, and with patients if appropriate to the academic program.
  4. Sufficient emotional stability to permit management of the demands associated with the pursuit of professional activities, including the full utilization of their intellectual abilities, for the exercise of good judgment and the prompt completion of all responsibilities. They must be able to adapt to changing environments, display flexibility and learn to function in the face of uncertainties.

These technical standards are minimum requirements for participation in graduate programs at the Medical College of Georgia which require significant laboratory or research-oriented activities.
