HIA Admission and Selection  

 
 

The DHI places primary emphasis on college GPA, references, and an evaluation of the student during a personal interview in selecting a student for admission.

Technical Standards for the Admission and Graduation of HIA Students

The following standards are developed under the premise that the student:

  • can be reasonably expected to meet such standards on admission,
  • maintains the validity of this expectation throughout his progress through the curriculum,
  • meets the minimal level of competence established for each course, and
  1. With reasonable accommodations, the student must be able to:
    1. Receive information via lecture, videotape, slides, class discussion, texts, computer-assisted instruction, films and audiocassettes; communicate his level of understanding and raise questions for clarification.
    2. Demonstrate the ability to successfully carry out assignments at practicum sites.
    3. Understand and follow instructions from DHI department employees, and faculty; communicate his level of understanding and raise questions for clarification.
  2. After appropriate instruction, with minimal assistance from others, the student must be able to meet the Domains, Subdomains, and Tasks for RHIAs.
