programs in the Department of Health Informatics.


The Department of Health Informatics offers applied online and face-to-face degrees in
Health Information Administration (HIA), Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Health
Information Administration, and a Master of Public Health in Informatics. These programs prepare graduates for informatics-related roles in the health care delivery system.

This four-year (2+2) program results in a bachelor of science degree in health information administration. Those choosing the four-year degree program complete two years of liberal arts and sciences courses (the core curriculum prerequisites) at another accredited college or university. Students then transfer to MCG where they receive two years of online or traditional face-to-face specialty education in health information administration (HIA). Students begin the MCG program fall semester of their junior year.

This program is a "4+1,'' meaning the student who has earned a bachelor's degree in allied health, nursing or business/healthcare administration and computer science may apply for the online or traditional face-to-face post-baccalaureate certificate program in HIA. Students begin the MCG program fall semester.

The iMPH program builds on three core areas; public health, health informatics and healthcare administration. The iMPH offers a balanced and thorough curriculum covering knowledge, skills and competencies required for optimal professional performance in public health.
