Thank you so much for your interest in our Clinical Laboratory Science program. The programs in Clinical Laboratory Science are accredited by the National Accreditating Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences. The MHS-CLS and BS-CLS have on-campus and distance learning tracks.

The BS-CLS undergraduate program requires 121 semester hours for graduation. Sixty hours of general college courses must be completed at an accredited college or university and the final 61 hour curriculum will be completed in our clinical laboratory science program. This is an entry-level degree and upon graduation, the student will be eligible to sit for the Clinical Laboratory Science examination from the National Credentialing Agency (NCA) for laboratory personnel or the Medical Technology examination from the American Society for Clinical Pathology.

 

For certified CLT (NCA) or MLT (ASCP) applicants, up to 8 semester hours of laboratory courses may be awarded as experiential credit. Each applicant will be evaluated on a case-by case basis.

To apply to the BS-CLS program you may submit an undergraduate online application form. Click the link near the bottom of the application to begin the Medical College of Georgia application process.

 

The MHS-CLS graduate program requires 74 graduate semester credit hours for graduation. The student must have a bachelor's degree in biology, chemistry, microbiology, or related science field. This is an entry-level degree and upon graduation, the student would be eligible to sit for the national certification examinations. The curriculum is 5 semesters long and culminates in a research or capstone project. This program will also offer courses in evidenced based practice, clinical services delivery, epidemiology, and education principles. This degree will prepare the student for practice in research, management, and education as well as practice as a clinical laboratory scientist.

 

Upon graduation from the MHS-CLS program the graduate will be eligible to sit for the Clinical Laboratory Science examination from the National Credentialing Agency (NCA) for laboratory personnel or the Medical Technology examination from the American Society for Clinical Pathology.
