This four-year (2+2) program results in a bachelor of science degree in health information administration. Those choosing this program complete two years of liberal arts and sciences courses (the core curriculum prerequisites) at another accredited college or university. Students then transfer to MCG where they receive two years of online or traditional face-to-face specialty education in health information administration (HIA). Students begin the MCG program fall semester of their junior year.

This program is geared toward the graduate who has earned a bachelor's degree

in an (1) Allied Health discipline, (2) Business Administration or Management,

(3) Healthcare Administration or Management or (4) Computer Sciences, who may apply for the online or traditional face-to-face post-baccalaureate certificate program in HIA. Students begin the MCG program fall semester.

Students who complete either the bachelors or certificate program are eligible to take the AHIMA national registration exam to become a Registered Health Information Administrator.

The Masters of Public Health in Informatics Program (iMPH) prepares leaders who manage, analyze, disseminate, and apply information to enhance wellness and quality of life for individuals and communities.

 

The program provides a comprehensive and integrated education experience encompassing public health, health informatics and health care administration themes.

 

Graduates will manage information of health care organizations, public health agencies, health data organizations, research institutes and private industries.

The iMPH program is structured to deliver approximately 90% of its content via online courses each academic period. The
remaining 10% of the program's content is delivered as on-campus course work which requires the student to attend classes at the MCG-Augusta campus. There are no
exceptions.

 

The iMPH program at MCG does not offer sufficient on-campus course work for students in F-1 or J-1 student status to meet the full course of study requirement. MCG will not issue a Certificate of Eligibility for F-1 Academic Student (Form I-20) or J-1 Exchange Visitor, Student Category (Form DS-2019) for enrollment in the iMPH program.
