Dr. Anita Bhat is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Health Informatics. She holds a doctoral degree in Health Policy and Administration from the School of Public Health, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Dr. Bhat received a MD degree specializing in Otolaryngology and practiced as a surgeon and Associate Professor in Bombay, India. She has conducted research for Merck Pharmaceuticals. Her current research interests focus on health literacy in patients with arthritis.

Vibha Kumar, MD

Dr. Vibha Kumar is an Assistant
Professor in the School of Allied Health Sciences (Health Informatics) and the School of Graduate Studies. Dr. Kumar received an MD degree and postdoctoral research degree in community medicine (public health) in her native land of India. Dr. Kumar has extensive experience in the management of public health clinics and has completed a two-year public health informatics fellowship at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention followed by a postdoctoral medical informatics fellowship at Boston University Medical Center. She is pursuing a doctoral degree in public health (DrPH) at Georgia Southern University. Dr. Kumar's areas of teaching expertise in health informatics include public health informatics, knowledge management systems, decision support systems, electronic medical records and the public health informatics grid. Dr. Kumar has taught at the graduate level in both public health and informatics, including courses in public health practice, epidemiology of communicable diseases and chronic diseases, disease prevention and control, environmental health and international health.

Dr. Pavani Rangachari is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Health Informatics. She holds a PhD in Public Administration & Policy (with a concentration in Healthcare Management and Organizational Theory) from the Rockefeller College, University at Albany, State University of New York, and a Master in Health Policy & Management from the School of Public Health at the University at Albany. She has previously served as Director of Quality Improvement in a community hospital in Massachusetts and has taught courses on Healthcare Management, Health Systems, and Health Policy. Her research interests encompass a variety of managerial and organizational issues related to health care delivery, including quality improvement, leadership, inter-organizational networks, public-private collaboration, and knowledge management. |
