Dr. Amanda Carroll-Barefield is an Associate Professor in the Department of Health Informatics. She serves as the Department Chair. She holds a doctoral degree in Instructional Technology and Distance Education and is a Registered Health Information Administrator and licensed Nursing Home Administrator. Dr. Barefield's areas of expertise include legal aspects of health care, health care statistics, health care delivery systems, data management, instructional technology and distance education.

Dr. Anita Bhat

Dr. Anita Bhat is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Health Informatics. She holds a doctoral degree in Health Policy and Administration from the School of Public Health, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Dr. Bhat received a MD degree specializing in Otolaryngology and practiced as a surgeon and Associate Professor in Bombay, India. She has conducted research for Merck Pharmaceuticals.  Her current research interests focus on health literacy in patients with arthritis.

Dr. Carol Campbell is a Professor with appointments in the School of Graduate Studies, School of Allied Health Sciences and School of Medicine. She holds a doctoral degree in Business Administration and is a Registered Health Information Administrator. Dr. Campbell's areas of expertise include business administration, human resource management and mediation.

Mr. Jim Condon

Jim Condon is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Health Informatics. He is the Program Director for the Health Information Adminstration Program. He is a Registered Health Information Administrator and Certified Tumor Registrar. He holds a Master of Science in Administration with an emphasis in Information Resource Management and is pursuing his doctoral degree in Education Administration and Leadership. Mr. Condon's areas of expertise include record processing practices, health care finance, disparities in health care delivery, and fundamentals of database design.

John Meyer is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Health Informatics and the Director of Instructional Support and Student Affairs in the School of Allied Health Sciences. He holds a doctoral degree in Computing Technology in Education. Dr. Meyer's responsibilities in the School of Allied Health Sciences include technology planning and implementation and teaching computing fundamentals courses. Dr. Meyer's areas of expertise include computer information systems and computing technology in education.

Dr. Vibha Kumar

Dr. Vibha Kumar is an Assistant Professor in the School of Allied Health Sciences (Health Informatics) and the School of Graduate Studies.  Dr. Kumar received an MD degree and postdoctoral research degree in community medicine (public health) in her native land of India. Dr. Kumar has extensive experience in the management of public health clinics and has completed a two-year public health informatics fellowship at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention followed by a postdoctoral medical informatics fellowship at Boston University Medical Center. She is pursuing a doctoral degree in public health (DrPH) at Georgia Southern University. Dr. Kumar's areas of teaching expertise in health informatics include public health informatics, knowledge management systems, decision support systems, electronic medical records and the public health informatics grid. Dr. Kumar has taught at the graduate level in both public health and informatics, including courses in public health practice, epidemiology of communicable diseases and chronic diseases, disease prevention and control, environmental health and international health.

Lori Prince is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Health Informatics. She is a Registered Health Information Administrator and a Certified Coding Specialist. She holds a Master of Science in Administration with an emphasis in Health Services Administration and is pursuing a doctoral degree in Education Administration and Leadership. Ms. Prince's areas of expertise include pathophysiology, pharmacology, reimbursement and coding, and quality of care improvement.

Dr. Pavani Rangachari is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Health Informatics. She holds a PhD in Public Administration & Policy (with a concentration in Healthcare Management and Organizational Theory) from the Rockefeller College, University at Albany, State University of New York, and a Master in Health Policy & Management from the School of Public Health at the University at Albany. She has previously served as Director of Quality Improvement in a community hospital in Massachusetts and has taught courses on Healthcare Management, Health Systems, and Health Policy. Her research interests encompass a variety of managerial and organizational issues related to health care delivery, including quality improvement, leadership, inter-organizational networks, public-private collaboration, and knowledge management.

Dr. Yoon-Ho Seol  

Yoon-Ho Seol, PhD

Dr. Yoon-Ho Seol is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Health Informatics. His research interests are in the areas of information retrieval, data and knowledge representation, and data mining in health care domains. He received his Master's and doctoral degrees in Biomedical Informatics from Columbia University. He also obtained a Master's degree in Computer Science from the same university.

Sherry Smith is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Health Informatics. Ms. Smith holds a Master of Science degree in Administration with a concentration in Information Resource Management and a Graduate Certificate in Health Services Administration. She is a Registered Health Information Administrator and a Certified Professional in Healthcare Information and Management Systems (CPHIMS). Ms. Smith's areas of expertise include database management, information systems analysis and design, and information system security.
